One channel of several side by side: the defender slides along the disc tramline; the attacker fakes and goes past to the end line.
Set up
- Cone out the channels side by side.
- Put a line of discs across the middle of each (the tramline).
- The defender stands on the tramline.
- The attacker starts 5 m away with the ball.
Pairs, each in their own 8 m wide by 12 m long channel.
How to play
- The defender may only slide sideways along the tramline.
- The attacker dribbles at them and does a fake (shoulder drop, stop-go, or their own invented move).
- Cross the tramline with the ball under control: 1 point.
- Turn round: the defender becomes the attacker from the other side.
- Play 90 seconds, then Move One.
- Children name their own move (the Carnmoney Wobble).
Keeping everyone moving
Roles flip on every go, so there is no line.
Make it easier
- The defender keeps hands on hips and walks.
Make it harder
- The defender may take one step off the line.
- A point only counts after two fakes.
Three things to say
- Go slowly into the fake, then explode.
- A big, selling body movement.
- Go the other way fast.
Words that work: "Brave try, keep inventing!", "Great hard work on the line!", "Show your partner your move!"
Colts habit
Lead by teaching your move.
Both feet
Fake one way, go with the other foot.
Heads up
Watch the defender's hips.
For your birth year
Pick a birth year to show the tweak for that group.
- 2020 to 2021
- Use Sleeping Giant.
- 2018 to 2019
- A simple body swerve only.
- 2016 to 2017
- Add a second tramline 4 m further on.
Safety: The defender stays on their feet. Keep 2 m gaps between channels.
Keeping score: My clean crossings out of 10 goes: beat your own score.
