4v1 Passing Squares
4v1 in a corner, then transfer the ball to another team in another corner.

Set up
- Mark a 25 by 25 grid.
- One team plays 4v1 in a corner against one defender. The other defenders spread around the central zone. The third team is split across the other 3 corners.
Balls, bibs and cones. 25 by 25 grid. Three teams of four.
How to play
- The team in possession makes 3 to 5 passes before transferring the ball to the third team.
- Whatever corner the ball is played into, all of that team go into that square to keep possession from another defender.
- The team that transferred the ball divides into the empty corners.
- The defending team defends for 3 minutes.
Make it easier
Make it harder
- Increase or reduce the number of passes before the ball is transferred.
- If the defending team wins the ball they swap roles with the team that gave it away.
Three things to say
- First touch and control.
- Decision making and movement to support.
- Weight, angle, accuracy and timing of the pass.
Colts habit
Work hard: defenders press for the full three minutes.
Both feet
Transfer passes with the practice foot for a bonus.
Heads up
Look for the free corner before the transfer.
Safety: Keep the area clear of bags and bottles. Stay on your feet, no slide tackles. No heading.
Keeping score: Each child keeps their own count and tries to beat it next time. Nothing is compared between children.
