Dribble for Goal
Also called Gate Dash
Dribble through as many gates as you can in a minute, then beat your own number, then beat the blockers.

Set up
- Mark a 20 by 20 grid.
- Scatter 8 to 10 gates of different colours. Every player has a ball.
20 by 20 grid (depending on numbers). 8 to 10 different coloured gates. All players with a ball each.
How to play
- Players dribble around the grid using both feet and different parts of the foot: outside, inside, sole.
- Players dribble through the gates and try to go through all of them.
- How many gates can you get through in 1 minute? Count in your head, then beat your own number next go.
Keeping everyone moving
The count is private. Never ask who got most. The only question is did you beat your own number.
Make it easier
Make it harder
- Players dribble to a gate but must use a turn to change direction and not go through the gate.
- Add 2 or 3 blockers who stand in gates to block them (not tackling) and move from gate to gate. Swap blockers after 1 minute. Dribblers find an open gate.
Three things to say
- Keep the ball under control with soft touches.
- Comfortable dribbling with both feet.
- Head up and awareness when dribbling.
Colts habit
Be brave: go at a blocker's gate anyway.
Both feet
One minute with the practice foot: that is next week's number to beat.
Heads up
Look for the next gate before you reach this one.
The Colts change: The count is private. Never ask who got most. The only question is did you beat your own number.
A young leader can run this one, with an adult coach beside them.
Safety: Keep the area clear of bags and bottles. Stay on your feet, no slide tackles. No heading.
Keeping score: Your secret number of gates in a minute. Beat it next go.
