Man Marking Game
A directional game where you may only tackle the player you are marking, so it is full of 1v1s.
Set up
- Mark an area of about 40 by 30 with a goal at each end.
- Two teams of 3 to 5. Each player pairs up with an opponent.
Balls, bibs, cones and nets. Area about 40 by 30.
How to play
- Play a directional game trying to score a goal.
- You are only allowed to tackle the player you are marking. This makes lots of 1v1 situations where players must dribble or defend 1v1.
- If a player tackles a different player, the ball restarts with the opposition keeper.

- Every 2 to 3 minutes rotate the player you are marking.
- Only score with a one-touch finish.

- Create space in possession.
- Enjoy the 1v1 duel and test yourself against your opponent.
- When defending, see your opponent and the ball.

Safety: Pair players of a similar size and rotate often. Academy keeper safety rules apply.
Keeping score: Each child keeps their own count and tries to beat it next time. Nothing is compared between children.
