Transition Game
One team builds to score in small goals, the other breaks quickly to the big goal when it wins the ball.

Set up
- Mark a pitch with 2 small goals at one end and a big goal at the other.
- Two teams.
Balls, bibs, cones and nets. Two teams.
How to play
- One team tries to score in the 2 small nets after making 4 or 5 passes. The other team defends and, when it wins the ball, breaks quickly into the other half to attack the big goal.
- The first team can follow to try to stop them scoring.
- Change the counter-attack team every 2 to 3 minutes.
Make it easier
Make it harder
- When you win the ball you have 15 seconds to score once you break into the other half. Reduce the time as the game goes on.
- Must dribble over the line into the other half to start the attack.
- Must pass into the other half to start the attack.
- Only 3 defenders can go to stop the counter attack. Build up to 4 to 6.
Three things to say
- Transition quickly to attack.
- Timing and tempo of passes.
- Shooting technique.
Colts habit
Work hard: win it and go.
Both feet
Finish the counter with the practice foot for a bonus.
Heads up
Look forward the moment you win it.
Safety: Academy keeper safety rules apply.
Keeping score: Each child keeps their own count and tries to beat it next time. Nothing is compared between children.
