Turning and Shooting Box
Dribble to the end of the square, turn, dribble back, turn again and shoot.

Set up
- Set up a dribbling square 10 to 20 m from the goal.
- Two groups, a ball each, one on each side of the square.
Cones, balls, bibs and a net. A dribbling square set up 10 to 20 m from the net.
How to play
- The first player from each side dribbles to the end of the square, turns, dribbles to the other end, turns and shoots.
- The next player starts when the player before them shoots.
- Players can be creative with their turns or the coach can call the turn.
Keeping everyone moving
Use two squares and two goals so groups are 3 at most. Each child counts their own goals.
Make it easier
Make it harder
- Change turns every 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add a shooting area: corners of the net, bottom corner.
- Add a goalkeeper (academy keeper safety rules apply).
Three things to say
- Quality and exaggeration of turns.
- Shooting technique: side foot, laces, head over the ball.
- Speed of dribbling and change of direction.
Colts habit
Work hard: two full-speed turns every run.
Both feet
Turn with the practice foot.
Heads up
Look at the goal out of the last turn.
The Colts change: Use two squares and two goals so groups are 3 at most. Each child counts their own goals.
Safety: If a keeper is used, follow the academy keeper safety rules for the age group.
Keeping score: Each child keeps their own count and tries to beat it next time. Nothing is compared between children.
