Set up
- Mark a pitch with a goal at each end.
- Each team has 2 wall players, one either side of the net they are scoring in.
Balls, bibs, cones and nets. Two teams, each with 2 wall players beside the goal they are scoring in.
How to play
- Play a directional game trying to score as many goals as possible.
- Central players must play off a wall player before they can score.
- Rotate wall players every 3 minutes.
Keeping everyone moving
Rotate the wall players every 3 minutes so nobody stands beside the goal for long.
Make it easier
Make it harder
- All players must touch the ball before playing off a wall player to score.
- Both wall players must touch the ball before you can score.
- When you pass to a wall player they pass to a different player and switch with the passer.
- First-touch finish.
Three things to say
- Timing and tempo of passes.
- Weight of passes: short and long.
- Receive to go forward: back foot, open body, first touch forward.
Colts habit
Lift each other: wall player and scorer share the goal.
Both feet
Wall players return with the practice foot.
Heads up
Look for the wall player before you enter the final third.
The Colts change: Rotate the wall players every 3 minutes so nobody stands beside the goal for long.
Safety: Keep the area clear of bags and bottles. Stay on your feet, no slide tackles. No heading.
Keeping score: Each child keeps their own count and tries to beat it next time. Nothing is compared between children.
