Wall Pass and Move
Pass against a wall, then move to a new sock before the ball comes back.
Three socks in a row facing a wall: pass against the wall, move to a different sock, and stop the ball there.
Set up
- Put three socks in a row, two big steps apart, about three big steps from a wall.
- Stand by one sock with the ball.
A wall or garage door, with room for three socks in a row.
How to play
- Pass the ball against the wall.
- Straight away, move to a different sock.
- Stop the ball as it comes back, then pass again from the new sock.
- Keep going for a minute: pass, move, stop, pass.
- No wall? A grown-up can be the wall and pass back to the new sock.
Make it easier
- Pass more softly, so the ball takes longer to come back.
- Use two socks, one big step apart.
Make it harder, step by step
- Add a fourth sock, three big steps from the others.
- Four socks, and stop the ball with the foot nearest the sock you will run to next.
Three things to say
- Pass, then move at once. Never watch your pass.
- Get to the new sock before the ball does.
- Stop it, look up, pass again.
Words that work: "Great moving!", "You beat the ball!", "Brilliant, you never stood still!"
Colts habit
Work hard: pass and move for the whole minute.
Both feet
Pass with your left foot from the left sock and your right foot from the right.
Heads up
Choose your next sock before the ball comes back.
For your birth year
Pick a birth year to show the tweak for that group.
- 2020 to 2021
- Two socks only, and a grown-up rolls the ball back to the new sock.
- 2018 to 2019
- Three socks, two big steps apart.
- 2016 to 2017
- Four socks, and stop the ball with the foot nearest the next sock.
Safety: Pick a wall away from windows and cars. Clear toys and plant pots first.
My best
Passes from a new sock in one minute. Last time and this time. Only ever compared with your own earlier go, never with anyone else. Saved on this device only.
