Freeze Frame
On the colour call, everyone with a ball finds a free player in that colour and passes.
Most children dribble, a few are free players in bibs; on Freeze Frame! the ball goes to a free player in the colour called.
Set up
- Mark a 20 m by 25 m area.
- Two thirds of the children have a ball. The rest are free players in bibs.
8 to 12 children. 20 m by 25 m.
How to play
- Everyone moves around the area.
- The coach holds up a bib colour and calls Freeze Frame!
- Players with a ball pass to a free player in that colour. Free players call and show their hands.
- The receiver takes the ball away. The passer becomes a free player.
Keeping everyone moving
Roles change after every pass, so nobody stays without a ball for long. Nobody is out.
Make it easier
- One colour only.
- Longer time to find the pass.
Make it harder
- Two colours called.
- The pass must go to someone you have not passed to yet.
Three things to say
- Look up when the call comes.
- Receiver moves into space and calls.
- First touch away.
Words that work: "Brilliant call, you showed for it!", "Brave to take it on the move!", "You found a new friend!"
