Rebound Rumble
Groups of three shoot, follow in and chase every rebound, swapping jobs after every shot.
Four 10 m areas with 3 m gaps, a goal at one end of each; a shooting line 6 m out with tall-cone blockers for 2018s and 2019s (top), 8 m out with a keeper for 2016s and 2017s (bottom).
Set up
- Mark four 10 m by 10 m areas, with 3 m gaps between them.
- Put a pop-up goal at one end of each area.
- Mark a shooting line with discs: 6 m out for 2019s to 2018s, 8 m for 2017s to 2016s.
- For 2019s to 2018s, stand 3 tall cones just in front of each goal as blockers that make rebounds.
12 children in 4 groups of 3, each with its own 10 m by 10 m area.
How to play
- In each group of three: one shooter, one follower, and one keeper (older groups) or one ball collector (younger groups).
- The shooter strikes from the line.
- Shooter and follower both chase any rebound.
- A rebound goal counts double. Inside 4 m it must be a side-foot pass.
- Rotate roles after every shot.
Keeping everyone moving
Every child has a job on every shot, and roles change every go.
Make it easier
- Move the shooting line closer.
- Use more blockers.
Make it harder
- Add a second follower from another group.
- Rebounds must be finished with the other foot.
Three things to say
- Follow in straight after the shot.
- Stay on your toes.
- Side-foot calmly into the net.

- 2018 to 2019
- Blockers, no child keeper. Shooting line 6 m.
- 2016 to 2017
- Keeper optional. Shooting line 8 m. For 2016s the follower can start 2 m further back.
Safety: Keeper safety rules apply: a child goes in goal only if they choose to, 2019s and 2018s shoot from at least 6 m and shots count only below knee height, 2017s and 2016s from at least 8 m and below the waist. Nobody shoots when the keeper is down. Side-foot only inside 4 m.
