Tick Tock Treasure
The team with the ball earns a treasure point on every clap, but only if nobody on it is standing still.
Two teams of four keep the ball in the square; on each slow clap the team with the ball scores, but only if everyone on it is moving.
Set up
- Mark a square with 4 cones.
- Put two teams of 4 in the square.
- The coach stands at the side, ready to clap.
4v4; 20 m by 20 m (older 25 m by 25 m).
How to play
- The coach claps slowly (about every three seconds).
- On each clap, the team with the ball gets a treasure point, but only if nobody on that team is standing still.
- Win the ball back and your team starts earning claps.
- Out of play: dribble straight back in.
- Count the treasure after 3 minutes.
Keeping everyone moving
The point depends on everyone moving, so no child stands still. Defenders earn points by winning it back.
Make it easier
- Bigger square.
- Slower claps.
Make it harder
- Add a pop-up goal on two sides, and a team with three claps in a row may score.
- Keep the claps fast.
Three things to say
- Moving after you pass.
- Making angles so a teammate can pass.
- Defending together to squeeze the ball.
Words that work: "Keep moving!", "Brave to ask for it!", "Great help to win it back!"
Colts habit
Lift each other, call names to show you are free.

- 2020 to 2021
- Not used.
- 2018 to 2019
- 4v4 on 25 m by 25 m, slow claps.
- 2016 to 2017
- Add the goals step up.
Safety: Keep the square clear of bags and bottles. No pushing when defending.
Keeping score: Each child counts how many claps they were moving for, compared with last time.
