0 to 10 min 3v3
Set up two small pitches with a goal at each end. As children arrive they go straight in: 1v1, then 2v2, then 3v3. Coaches feed a spare ball in from the side the moment one goes out. No throw-ins or corners: dribble it in or pass it in, to keep it fast. The match is the warm-up.
10 to 40 min Station 1 and Station 2, 15 minutes each
Two groups of about 6. Group 1 starts on Station 1, group 2 on Station 2. Swap at 25 minutes. A coach at each station.
Station 1
Beep Beep
A pairs reaction game: touch the body part the coach calls, and grab the ball only on Ball!

Set up
- Set up in pairs with a ball between them, spread around the area.
Stage 1: play it
- The coach calls out a body part and players touch that body part.
- On the call Ball, the players try to lift the ball. They get a point for lifting the ball.
- On the call Beep Beep, players put their hand in the air and shout Beep Beep. If they touch the ball on this call, their partner gets a point.
Stage 2: progress it
Rotate who the players are playing.
Stage 3: progress it
Try to get the ball using their feet.
Three things to say
- Listen, then react.
- Watch the ball and your partner at the same time.
- Decide fast: ball or hands up.
You need: balls, cones

Station 2
Rats and Rabbits
A pairs listening and sprinting game: Rats run home and Rabbits chase, or the other way round.

Set up
- Players pair up and face each other at a halfway point.
- Each line of players is named Rats or Rabbits. Home lines are marked with cones.
Stage 1: play it
- If the coach calls Rats, they run home and the Rabbits try to catch them, and the other way round if Rabbits is called.
- If you catch your partner you get a point.
Stage 2: progress it
Change the starting position: back to back, face to face, lying on your belly, lying on your back, sitting.
Stage 3: progress it
Add a ball, and when running home you run with the ball.
Stage 4: progress it
Add different names: North and South, football teams.
Stage 5: progress it
Opposites: Rats means Rabbits and Rabbits means Rats.
Three things to say
- Running, speed, acceleration and slowing down.
- Strength.
- Running with the ball under control at speed.
You need: bibs, cones, balls

40 to 60 min Match
A match
One big pitch, 6v6 with goalkeepers. Kick-ins or dribble-ins instead of throw-ins, to keep the touches up. A spare ball comes in the moment one goes out. One coach refs, the other feeds spare balls from the side.
Equipment for the whole session
- balls
- cones
- bibs
Habit of the week: Be brave
Say it at the start, watch for it all session, name one moment on the walk off.
Reminders
- Drinks when moving. The huddle is the walk off: one moment of the habit, with the child's name.
- A ball at every foot. Nobody stands without one for 30 seconds.
- No queues and nobody is ever out.
- Talk under 30 seconds. Show it, don't tell it.
- Every game has stages: start at stage 1 and move on when it is working.
